Competition Rules

1) Composition:
(a) PFC consists of 8 teams in a straight knockout format (Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, Final – a total of 7 matches).
(b) 4 of these teams are from KCL, 4 teams from J1C.
(c) Kytes, Engineers and Wombats are permanent members.
(d) Permanent members nominate 1 person to sit on an adjudicating committee (known as the PFC Board). The Board makes all decisions concerning the competition, such as which teams are invited to participate, fixtures, and resolving any disputes. In all cases, the Board’s decision is final.
(e) Permanent members play every year, the other 5 teams are invited by agreement among the permanent members.
(f) If a non-permanent member wins the final, that team is automatically invited back the following year.

2) Matches:
(a) Matches are standard one-day format, consisting of, as a rule, 40 overs per innings. This figure may be reduced by negotiation between the captains according to the match day conditions, but must be a MINIMUM of 20 overs per innings in order to constitute a match.
(b) Balls must be 4-piece unless BOTH captains agree to use 2-piece.
(c) Quarter-final matches must be inter-league (i.e. KCL vs J1C).
(d) Permanent members cannot meet in the quarter-final round.
(e) Quarter-final matches must be played by July 31st. Semi-final matches must be played by a date announced by the Board. If any match is not played by the scheduled date, the Board will toss a coin to determine which team goes through. (*Teams that cannot accept this possibility must not join the competition.*)
(f) If 2 teams are scheduled to play each other in another competition, they can count this as their PFC match, so long as BOTH captains agree and the Board is informed in advance.
(g) Apart from the deadline, it is up to teams to arrange all aspects of their match (expenses, date and time, ground, transport, balls, umpires etc).
(h) If possible, neutral umpires should be used.

3) Players:
(a) Players who regularly represent different teams in both KCL and J1C must declare their PFC team. By playing for a particular team in PFC, they are declaring that team.
(b) Players cannot represent more than 1 team per year in PFC.

4) Trophy:
(a) Winners of the the final will be presented with a trophy (The Golden Bat!), on which the team’s name will be inscribed. The following year, the holders of the trophy must bring it to their PFC matches. If/when they lose, they hand the trophy over to their opponents who take it to their next match, and so on. After the final, the winner adds their name to the trophy and keeps it till the following year. (Again, they bring it to their PFC match, and the process repeats.)

5) Fee:
(a) The entry fee for the competition is 1,000 yen per team.
(b) If a team exits the comp without playing a single match, the PFC Board keeps the 1,000 yen and guarantees the team a slot in the following year’s competition (without paying). The team can request a refund if it so wishes, in which case, the PFC Board does not guarantee the team a slot in the following year’s competition.

Suggested Teams for 2008:
KCL – Engineers, Kytes, Giants, Nagoya
J1C – Wombats, Paddy F, MAX, Adore.

1) 大会構成について：
(a) PFCは8チーム参加のトーナメント方式で構成される（準々決勝、準決勝、決勝 - 合計7試合をおこなう）。
(b) うち、4チームはKCLメンバー、残り4チームはJ1Cメンバーチームとする。
(c) Shizuoka Kytes、Indian EngineersおよびTokyo Wombatsを常任チームとする。
(d) 常任チームはそれぞれ管理機構である「PFC Board」（PFC委員会）への代表者1名を指名する。PFC Boardはこの大会に関する全ての件に関する決定をおこなう（例えば、どのチームが参加するか、試合対決、問題が生じた場合の解決など）。いずれの場合にも、PFC Boardの決定を最終決定とする。
(e) 常任チームは毎年大会に参加する。それ以外の5チームは、常任チームの合意により招聘されること。
(f) 常任チーム以外のチームは優勝したならば、自動的にその次の年のPFC参加権が与えられる。
 
2) 試合について：
(a) 試合は通常の「one-day」形式で、原則として一イニング40オーバーとする。状況によって、そして双方のチームのキャプテンが同意すれば、オーバーの数を減らすことができる（最少、一イニング20オーバーまで）。
(b) ボールは、原則として4ピースを使用するが、双方のチームのキャプテンが合意すれば2ピースを使用してもよい。
(c) 準々決勝の試合は「インター・リーグ」でなければならない（すなわちKCLチーム対J1Cチーム）。
(d) 準々決勝では、常任チーム同士では試合しないよう組むこと。
(e) 準々決勝は、7月31日までに行うこと。準決勝は、PFC Boardが別途通知する日付までにおこなうこと。予定期日までに試合がおこなわれない場合には、PFC Boardはコイントスにより次の試合に進むチームを決める。 (*この条件に合意できないチームは、参加を見合わせること。*)
(f) 試合予定の2チームが、別の大会での試合が組まれている場合、双方のチームのキャプテンが同意し、事前にBoardに通知することを条件として、その別の大会の試合をPFCの試合とすることができる。
(g) 上記締め切り以外、試合に関する詳細（日程、グラウンド、ボール、アンパイア、費用など）はすべて各チーム側の責任とする。
(h) 可能であれば、中立性を期すために第三者チームのメンバーがアンパイアを務めること。
 
3) 選手について：
(a) KCLとJ1Cの両方のリーグの別々のチームのメンバーとして試合に参加している選手は、自分が所属するPFCチームを宣言すること。選手が宣言せずに、あるPFCチームのメンバーとして出場した場合、 そのチームをその選手の所属チームであると宣言したものとみなす。
(b) PFCでは、選手は1年間に1チームのみに所属できる。
 
4) トロフィーについて：
(a) 決勝戦の勝者チームにはトロフィー（ゴールデンバット！）にそのチーム名を表示して保持が許される。翌年には、そのトロフィー保持者はPFCの試合に持参すること。そのチームがその試合に負けた場合、相手チームにトロフィーを渡し、その新たに保持者となったチームが次の試合に持参する。決勝戦では勝者チームはその名称をトロフィーに表示し、翌年まで保持する。（この場合もまた、その次の年の試合にトロフィーを持参し、同様に保持または引渡しをおこなう。）
 
5) PFC参加費について：
(a) PFCの参加費はチーム￥1,000である。
(b) チームが1回も試合せずに（例えば、準々決勝でのコイントス負けなどで）トーナメントから脱落した場合、PFC Boardはこの\1,000を保有しておき、翌年の試合参加権を確保する（支払わなくてよい）。またはこの場合チームは返金を求めることもできる。その場合には翌年の試合参加権は保証されない。
